Joint programme on NEH and TSP components of ICAR-NDRI,ERS,Kalyani, West Bengal and Division of Animal Health, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya.
ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, West Bengal and Division of Animal Health, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya jointly organized two days programmes on “Livelihood Improvement through Livestock Interventions” on 15.02.19. and 16.02.19. at Umshorshor and Lummynri villages of RiBhoi District, Meghalaya. Dr. Champak Bhakat, Principal Scientist and Dr.Anupam Chatterjee, Principal Scientist (ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, West Bengal), Dr. R. Laha, Principal Scientist, Division of Animal Health, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, Mr. E. Syiemlieh (Headman, Umshorshor village ), Mr.R. S. Wahlong (Secretary, Umshorshor village), Mr.Dorsong (Headman, LummynriVillage) were present in the programmes. At the outset Dr.R.Laha, P.S. and Co-coordinator of these programmes welcomed Principal Scientists of ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, West Bengal, all staff of Division of Animal Health, ICAR RC NEHR, Umiam, Meghalaya and farmers of the villages. Dr. Champak Bhakat, P.S. in his speech mentioned the objectives of such programmes to increase socio-economic status of farmers and thanks the farmers and others for their support to organize these programmes so successfully not only for this time but for also other such types of programes held in these villages earlier. Dr Bhakat also showed his gratitude to Dr R Laha, P.S. and co-coordinator of these programmes, Dr T K Dutta, Head, ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, (WB), Dr A Sen, Head, Division of Animal Health, ICAR RC NEHR, Umiam, Meghalaya and his staff. The dynamic leader of the village Umshorshor, Mr. E. Syiemlieh thanks ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, West Bengal for selection of these two villages for the benefit of farmers of remote villages of Meghalaya and ICAR RC NEHR, Umiam, Meghalaya for coming forward to coordinate these programmes. The demonstration cum training programme was followed by distribution of inputs in the form of chicks, piglets and other nutritional supplements along with animal health camps. A total of 90 farmers of both villages actively participated and benefitted from these programmes. Dr.Anupam Chatterjee, P.S. ICAR-NDRI ERS, Kalyani, West Bengal stressed on the importance of nutrition in animal production and also offered vote of thanks to the Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region,Umiam, Meghalaya and his staff, coordinator of the programme, headman’s and secretary of the villages and farmers for extending their help and cooperation to organize these programmes.
